EDIT: I called the City of Norfolk Public Works Office, Fleet Management just now, and reported this car as having unservice able tires.

The tires on this cruiser were worn well past what I’d run on my own daily driver and the rears even more so. Young copper indicated that Norfolk PD is phasing out Caprice and replacing them with Explorers. I asked him point blank if he’d been drifting and he didn’t have much idea what I was talking about. I certainly would be drifting it...

That’s the 7-11 across the street from the opera house. I’m visiting my parents in Ghent. I’ve noticed that there are more flavors of Rockstar available in California than there are here.

At least they’ve improved the stickers-on-white livery from the 1980s. I remember the Malibus before this. Most all of Austin PD is going to Exploders, along with the county sheriff, once they figured out how to keep the cops from getting CO poisoning.

If they're phasing them out, I can hazard a guess that whoever's in charge of the fleet decided that those tires would just have to do, because they weren't spending any more money on the car.

Very little rear seat legroom in the standard car. I imagine it was pretty cramped. Cop I spoke to this morning said the Caprice was kind of cramped.

I think those Cop-prices keep some value in the auctions.

The local sheriff switched from Crown Vics to full-sized Tahoes. I asked a deputy about it, and he said they have to have to big vehicle to carry a full-sized spare. If they’re out on the county and get a flat, they have to be able to get back into service. They are now buying Exploders. Do they have a FS spare? I don’t know.

They do, to my understanding. There is also an issue with gross vehicle weight: for the sake of efficiency, cars are getting lighter while cop gear is going the other way because more of it. SUVs are heavier and carry more.
